Frightened Rabbit - State Hospital

Say hello to State Hospital from Scottish indie five-piece Frightened Rabbit - this slow burning track really grows as the song goes on. I love that, even so poetic and soft with his accented words, Scott Hutchison (lead singer) isn't afraid to swear to get the message across. The band have been around since 2003 but their new EP, also named State Hospital, was released in September but more importantly paves the way for their new album Pedestrian Verse, which is currently available for pre-order on iTunes for a release early next year.

The Dirty Nil - Little Metal Baby Fist

These guys keep hitting it out the park! I really don't like my punk music but the screaming rock'n'roll indie style these guys are displaying has me a fan! This is the title track from The Dirty Nil's new album and is currently available for a 'Name Your Price' digital download or 7" physical for just $5 at the bands Bandcamp website (delivered from across the pond). The Karaoke inspired video is also after the break, which apparently includes Tom Hanks somewhere, still yet to find him myself - maybe you'll have better luck.

Cash Cash - Overtime

This one has got me dancing around work for the past few days! This is Overtime from New York genre mixing four piece Cash Cash. This track, sounding awesomely like a new age D.A.N.C.E, is a one off from Cash Cash who usually produce more dance/dubstep/boyband/emo music over anything else but I really hope this track and the popularity its gathering at the moment really shows the band what direction they should be heading in - cause it rocks!

Everything Everything - Kemosabe

The new Everything Everything album is shaping up to be a beast! This new track, Kemosabe was set free on the bands Soundcloud a few days ago. I caught this one live when they first started playing new content on a few tour dates earlier in the year and am very glad to see it make the new LP. The chaotic experimental sound paired with the randomly poetic lyrics these guys have been concocting up for a while now really seems to have been polished for the upcoming album.

The new album, Arc, will be out on the 14th January 2013 for the UK. Is that a Mercury Prize award I hear in the distance?...maybe.

Foals - Inhaler

Foals unleashed their new track, Inhaler, out to the wild yesterday and wow - for someone who felt that Total Life Forever was missing some umph that the band obviously had in them, this song shows off their intent for their new album tenfold. The new album Holy Fire is due out around Feb 2013 and if the rest of the track list is anything like Inhaler, then we are in for a treat!

Alt-J - Tessellate

Unsurprisingly to the mass media, Alt-J won the Mercury Prize last night and...I'm gonna be honest...considering they are even based in the same town I live In, I didn't know who they were. I wish I did - As a self-confessed experimental art-rock fan, this is the type of album I have been waiting to come around for a while. People are finding it hard to pigeon-hole these guys into a genre, with Wikipedia even inventing "Folktronica" to describe the band. From the dancing high piano-keys to the lazily enchanting vocals, a lot of people are saying these guys could be the new Radiohead...big ask, but this track Tessellate certainly wouldn't be out of place on albums like Kid A or Amnesiac.

Alt-J's debut album, An Awesome Wave has been out for a while now but expect to hear a lot more about it as the record label attempt to get this into everyone's earholes following the Mercury Prize win.

The 1975 - Sex

Dirty Hit Records certainly have an ear for good talent - With the likes of Little Comets and Benjain Francis Leftwich already on their roster they seem to be soaking up all the good music Manchester and the near vicinity can produce. The Sex EP The 1975 released last month has been slowly trickling out all over the net and it won't be long before these guys get regular national airplay. This is the title track from the new 4 Track EP, which is available to pre-order on iTunes now. It's only £2.49 - Go on!

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Fashion Monster

It's no lie that I am a big fan of Japanese music, be it J-Pop or J-Rock - I didn't think I liked J-Pop 'til I found myself endlessly miming along to Kyary's PONPONPON last year. Anyway, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's new single Fashion Monster has been making the rounds amongst Japanese media outlets and had me hooked in it's own cute and indecipherable way. However, I'm sure it'll be a long time (never) before we see it hit European and Western shores.

Apologies for the Lightning Storm sounds and overall quality of the rip - it's straight from the video I believe - Also, expect more Japanese music posts every now and then.

Ben Howard - The Fear (Moonlight Matters Rework)

Now It's not like the original song needed a rework, but Moonlight Matters has done such a good job to give this song more umph not only make it longer! The producer from Belgium has already hit the rounds with remixes of Lana Del Rey and Digitalism but I'm sure this rework will come as one of his greater achievements...good work!

PAPA - Put Me To Work

1,2...1,2,3,4! Ex-Girls Darren Weiss with Daniel Presant are LA duo PAPA and their new song Put Me To Work has come out of nowhere for me. I've not heard anything from this pairing before but this song, but from the haunting vocals to the hard hitting guitar-drums-piano mash up this has probably pissed off all of my fellow work colleagues with my foot tapping all morning.

Put Me To Work is the duo's first single from their debut album due out sometime in 2013...so keep an ear to the ground.
